Product description

A narrow oak floating shelf is a slim, shallow depth shelf for the spots a standard shelf sits too proud of the wall, a tight alcove, a narrow stretch of wall, above a doorway, or anywhere you want a clean line of display without the shelf jutting into the room. It fixes on concealed rods so there are no visible brackets, just a clean line of solid oak. Cut from solid oak in our Halifax workshop and made to the length you need.

Being solid oak, every shelf carries its own knots, grain and the odd fine crack as it settles in, the character of real wood rather than faults, so no two are ever quite the same.

Finished by hand in the shade you choose, it suits a hallway, living room, kitchen, bathroom or bedroom, anywhere a slim floating shelf works.

  • Slim solid oak floating shelf with a shallow 10cm depth
  • Concealed floating fixings, no visible brackets
  • Cut to your length, from 30cm to 150cm
  • Solid timber all the way through
  • Full of natural knots, grain and character, no two the same
  • Handmade to order in Yorkshire, in a choice of finishes

DELIVERY & RETURNS

Each shelf is made to order in our Yorkshire workshop in small production runs. Please allow 3 to 5 working days for us to build and finish it before dispatch. We always aim to meet this lead time, though during busier periods it can occasionally take a little longer. Once dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking details, and your order is sent on a tracked courier service, carefully packaged to arrive safely.

WOOD MATERIAL

Solid oak all the way through, cut from FSC certified timber, so it can be sanded and refinished over the years rather than replaced. Solid oak is naturally hard wearing, which is part of why it is such a popular choice for wall shelving.

GOOD TO KNOW

Our Oak Floating Shelves

Every shelf is handcrafted from solid oak, so each one is unique. The grain, knots and colour vary from piece to piece, and as a natural material the oak may develop small cracks and splits as it settles into your home. These are the character of real wood rather than faults.

Colour and finish

Each shelf is finished by hand in your chosen shade, and no two pieces of oak take the finish in quite the same way. Colours can also look slightly different from one screen to another. These natural variations are normal and are not a fault.

INSTALLATION

Installation

Each shelf is fixed with keyhole fixings routed into the back, so it hangs straight onto screws in the wall and sits flush with no visible brackets. Fixings for solid masonry walls are included. It can also be fitted to a plasterboard wall, but you would need to source the appropriate plasterboard fixings for your wall type, as the supplied fixings are for solid walls. Use a level so it sits true, and please have it fitted by a competent person or professional.
