Coat racks with a shelf, made to your hallway

A coat rack with a shelf, sometimes called a coat hook shelf, does two jobs at once. The hooks below take coats, bags and dog leads, while the solid wood shelf above holds the things that pile up by the door: keys, post, sunglasses, a hat, a small plant. Everything has a place, and nothing lands on the floor or the side table.

Every rack is handmade to order in our Halifax workshop from solid oak, pine, or solid wood painted in your choice of colour. No MDF and no veneered chipboard, so the shelf and hooks carry the weight of heavy winter coats without sagging. Choose your number of hooks, from 2 for a compact spot up to 12 for a busy family hallway, and we cut it to your wall width.

How to choose

Measure the wall first, then pick the hook count to match. As a rough guide, allow around 12 to 15cm per hook so coats hang without bunching. If the rack is going in a narrow hallway, a shorter shelf with 3 or 4 hooks keeps the walkway clear. For a main family entrance, more hooks and a longer shelf give everyone their own spot.
