More about our Wooden Peg Rails

Choosing a peg rail

A peg rail is the most versatile way to hang things on a wall. The same simple row of pegs works in a hallway for coats and bags, a kitchen for aprons and utensils, a bedroom for dressing gowns, or a bathroom for towels. It is a design that has barely changed in a hundred years because it just works.

The shaker peg, the gently turned wooden peg you see here, is the classic shape, and ours are made in solid oak so they hold the weight of a heavy coat without working loose. Add a shelf above the pegs and you gain a surface for keys, post, plants or small baskets.

Made to your wall

Every rail is handmade to order in our Halifax workshop and cut to your wall width, with as many pegs as you need. Choose a plain rail or one with a shelf, in solid oak to suit both traditional and simple modern homes. As a rough guide, allow around 12 to 15cm per peg so coats hang without bunching.
