More about our Oak Vanity Units

What is an oak vanity unit?

An oak vanity unit is a bathroom cabinet built from oak that holds your basin and gives you storage underneath. Ours are solid oak in the frame, legs, doors and drawers, topped with a solid surface worktop that copes with standing water, and finished by hand in a hard wax that seals the oak against steam.

Freestanding oak vanity units

The Hebden Oak Vanity Unit stands on solid oak legs with soft-close drawers and satin brass handles: two drawers on the 600mm, three on the 800mm and 1000mm. The Hebden Fluted Oak Vanity Unit has the same frame with reeded drawer fronts and long bronze pull handles, made in 600mm to 1200mm widths.

Wall hung oak vanity units

Three Hebden designs fix to the wall and leave the floor clear: two soft-close drawers, a drawer over an open shelf, or two cupboard doors with an internal shelf. Each has a 20mm white Corian top and black handles, in 600mm, 800mm or 1000mm. Wall hung units need fixing into solid masonry or timber studs.

Fluted and reeded oak

Fluted and reeded both describe fine vertical ridges cut into the oak, which catch the light and give the front a textured look. Our Hebden Fluted is the reeded oak vanity in the range, and it sits well in both modern and period bathrooms.

Oak wax finishes

Every Hebden unit is finished by hand in your choice of Heritage, Walnut, Honey, Light Roast, Dark Roast or Whitewash wax, with Natural wax on selected designs. The finish soaks into the grain rather than sitting on top, so the oak can be refreshed over the years instead of replaced.

Oak or pine?

Oak is a dense hardwood with a fine, tight grain and a richer colour, and our oak units come with a solid surface top. Pine is lighter, warmer and more affordable, with units from ยฃ580 in light, medium or dark wax. If budget matters more than species, see our full range of wooden vanity units.

How to choose an oak vanity unit

Measure the width of your space and check where the waste and water pipes come through. A 600mm unit suits a cloakroom or en suite, 800mm to 1000mm suits most main bathrooms, and the 1200mm Fluted gives the most worktop. Every top is left undrilled for a sit-on basin, so your plumber sets the tap to the basin you choose. Need a size that is not listed? We make to order, so send us your measurements.

Frequently asked questions

Are your oak vanity units solid oak?
Yes. The frame, legs, doors and drawers are solid oak throughout. The worktop is a solid surface material, which handles standing water better than timber.
What sizes do oak vanity units come in?
Freestanding units are made from 600mm to 1200mm wide and wall hung units in 600mm, 800mm or 1000mm. If you need a size to fit an alcove, we make to order, so send us your measurements before ordering.
Which oak finishes can I choose?
Heritage, Walnut, Honey, Light Roast, Dark Roast and Whitewash wax, with Natural wax on selected designs. All are hand applied in our workshop.
Is a basin included?
No. Every unit is designed for a sit-on basin, and the top is left undrilled so your plumber can set the tap to the basin you choose. Basin and taps are not included.
Can a wall hung oak vanity unit go on a plasterboard wall?
No. It needs fixing into solid masonry or timber studs. Plasterboard on its own will not hold the weight of the unit, the basin and everyday use.
How long does delivery take?
Made to order oak vanity units take 3 to 5 weeks from order confirmation, with free delivery across the UK.
