Oak coat racks handmade to order in our Halifax workshop, in solid oak with the warm tone and open grain of real timber. Wall mounted from 2 to 12 hooks, with a shelf above if you want one, and cut to your wall width. Solid oak throughout, no veneer and no MDF, so it takes the weight of heavy winter coats for years.

Choosing a solid oak coat rack

Oak is the hardwood people reach for when they want something that lasts. Ours is cut from solid oak, not veneered board, so the grain runs right through and the hooks fix into real timber rather than a thin skin over MDF. That is what lets a rack hold a full row of heavy winter coats for years without the hooks working loose.

The finish is where you set the tone. Heritage oak and walnut give the traditional look, while the waxed tones, from natural through honey to dark roast, bring out the grain in different ways. Every one is made to order, so if you want a specific width or hook count we cut it to your wall.

As a guide, allow around 12 to 15cm per hook so coats hang without bunching, and add a shelf if you want a spot for keys and post above the hooks. All our oak is FSC certified, so it is traceable from forest to workshop, and each hook carries up to 2.5kg.
