ย A solid wood dining table is a dining table made entirely from solid timber โ€” oak, pine, reclaimed wood or mango wood โ€” rather than MDF, chipboard or veneer. Solid wood is stronger, more durable and more repairable than alternatives: scratches can be sanded out, the surface refinished, and the table used for generations. Oak Dining Tables

ย The most popular choice in this collection. Oak is naturally dense, slow to scratch and develops a warmer character over time as the grain settles. Available in heritage oak and walnut finishes, in sizes from compact 2-seater up to large 10-seater. Each table is made to order โ€” standard sizes available, bespoke dimensions on request.

Reclaimed Wood Dining Tables

ย For a table with genuine history in it. Our reclaimed wood dining tables use solid timber with real character โ€” marks, grain variation, colour differences and the evidence of a previous life. No two tables are identical. Popular in industrial, farmhouse and eclectic interiors where the story of the material matters.

Drop Leaf Dining Tablesย 

The practical choice for smaller rooms. A drop leaf dining table has hinged side sections that fold down when not in use, reducing the footprint significantly. Fold up both leaves for a full family dining table; fold one or both down for everyday use where space is tight.

ย For galley kitchens, narrow dining rooms and small flats. Our narrow dining tables provide a full dining surface in a reduced footprint โ€” typically 70โ€“75cm wide rather than the standard 90cm. Available in 2-seater and 4-seater sizes in oak and pine.

What Size Dining Table Do I Need?

The right size depends on how many people you need to seat. For 2 people, a table of 80โ€“100cm long and 70โ€“80cm wide is sufficient. For 4 people, aim for 120โ€“140cm long and 75โ€“90cm wide. A 6-seater needs 160โ€“180cm in length and 90cm wide. For 8 people, allow 200โ€“220cm long and 90โ€“100cm wide. A 10-seater needs 240โ€“260cm long and 100cm wide. As a general rule, allow 60cm of space per seated person along the table length and 90cm clearance from table edge to wall for comfortable chair movement.

How do I care for a solid wood dining table?
Wipe spills promptly โ€” don't leave liquid sitting on the surface. Use placemats and coasters for hot items. For oiled oak tables, re-oil every 6โ€“12 months to maintain the finish. Keep out of direct, prolonged sunlight to prevent uneven fading.
What's the difference between solid wood and veneer?
Solid wood is timber all the way through โ€” it can be sanded, refinished and repaired. Veneer is a thin layer of real wood bonded to an MDF or chipboard core โ€” it looks similar initially but can't be sanded or refinished if it chips or lifts. All Off the Grain dining tables are solid timber throughout.
