Product description

Pine corbels are decorative brackets that sit beneath a shelf or mantel, carrying the weight above while adding a traditional, ornate detail. Ours are cut from solid pine in our Halifax workshop, the same timber right through with no MDF and no veneer, with a flowing scroll profile that suits a period or country look.

Pine is a softwood with a warm tone and characterful knots, and it takes paint and wax better than almost any other wood, so these corbels are an easy choice if you want to match a colour already in the room or paint them to blend in. Every corbel carries its own knots, grain and the odd small crack, the natural character of real timber, and as the wood settles into your home it may move a little, which is completely normal for solid pine.

Use them under a shelf, beneath a mantel, or purely as a decorative feature on a plain wall. Supplied as a pair, and because they are made to order, bespoke sizes are no problem.

  • Solid pine, handmade in Yorkshire
  • Decorative scroll profile
  • Takes paint and wax beautifully
  • Solid timber throughout, no MDF and no veneer
  • Full of natural knots and grain, no two the same
  • Sold as a pair, fixings included
  • Made to order, with bespoke sizes on request
DELIVERY & RETURNS

Each pair is made to order in our Yorkshire workshop in small production runs. Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for us to build and finish them before dispatch. We always aim to meet this lead time, though during busier periods it can occasionally take a little longer. Once dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking details, and your order is sent on a tracked courier service, carefully packaged to arrive safely.

WOOD MATERIAL

Solid pine throughout, both corbels cut from the same timber with no MDF core and no veneer, so they can be sanded, painted or refinished over the years rather than replaced. Pine takes paint and wax beautifully, so you can leave them natural or finish them to suit your room.

GOOD TO KNOW

Our Pine Corbels
Solid pine is a natural material, so every corbel is one off. The grain, knots and colour vary from piece to piece, and as a softwood the pine may develop small cracks or move a little as it settles into your home. These are the character of real wood rather than faults.

Colour and finish
Pine takes paint and wax beautifully, so you can leave the corbels natural or finish them to suit your room. No two pieces take a finish in quite the same way, and colours can also look slightly different from one screen to another. These natural variations are normal and are not a fault.

INSTALLATION

Each corbel has a keyhole fixing ring set into the back, so it hangs straight onto a screw driven into the wall, with nothing on show once up. Fix into solid masonry, or into the timber studs behind plasterboard, so it holds securely. If a corbel is carrying a shelf or mantel above, make sure both are level so they take the weight evenly, and have them fitted by a competent person or professional. As pine is combustible, keep it a safe distance from a stove and in line with HETAS regulations.
