Product description

Decorative oak corbels are the curved brackets that add traditional detail to a wall, whether they are carrying a shelf or mantel or simply sitting as an architectural feature in their own right. Ours are cut from solid oak in our Halifax workshop, the same timber right through with no MDF and no veneer, then finished by hand in the shade you choose.

Being solid oak, every corbel carries its own knots, cracks and grain, the natural character of real timber rather than faults, so no two are ever quite the same. As the wood settles into your home it may develop a few more fine cracks over time, which is completely normal for solid oak.

Use them under a shelf, beneath a mantel, along a run of worktop, or purely as decoration to bring a bit of period character to a flat wall. Supplied as a pair with eyelet fixings set into the back, and because they are made to order, bespoke sizes are no problem.

  • Solid oak, handmade in Yorkshire
  • Traditional curved corbel profile
  • Full of natural knots, cracks and grain, no two the same
  • Solid timber throughout, no MDF and no veneer
  • Decorative, or to support a shelf or mantel
  • Sold as a pair, eyelet fixings included
  • Made to order, with bespoke sizes on request
DELIVERY & RETURNS

Each shelf is made to order in our Yorkshire workshop in small production runs. Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for us to build and finish it before it is dispatched. We always aim to meet this lead time, though during busier periods it can occasionally take a little longer. Once dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking details, and your order is sent on a tracked courier service, carefully packaged to arrive safely. Please open your shelf as soon as it arrives to let the wood breathe.

GOOD TO KNOW

Our Oak Shelves
Every shelf is handcrafted from solid oak, so each one is unique. The grain, knots and colour vary from piece to piece, and as a natural material the oak may develop small cracks and splits as it settles into your home. These are the character of real wood rather than faults.

Colour and finish
Each shelf is finished by hand in your chosen shade, and no two pieces of oak take the finish in quite the same way. Colours can also look slightly different from one screen to another. These natural variations are normal and are not a fault.

INSTALLATION

The shelf arrives fully built, with the corbels fixed to the shelf as one solid piece, so there is nothing to assemble. Two keyhole fixings are set into the back, so you mark your line with a level, drive two screws into the wall and hang the shelf straight on, where it drops down and sits tight to the wall with nothing on show. Fix into solid masonry, or into the timber studs behind plasterboard, so it holds securely. If it is going above a fire, remember that oak is combustible, so keep it a safe distance from a stove and in line with HETAS regulations.
