What is hallway storage furniture?

Hallway storage furniture is furniture designed specifically for entrance spaces — coat racks, shoe benches, console tables and hooks that keep coats, bags and footwear organised from the moment you walk in. In narrow hallways, wall-mounted pieces keep the floor clear while freestanding benches add seating. Every piece in this collection is handmade from solid oak or pine in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Coat Racks

The most practical starting point for any hallway. A wall mounted coat rack gives every coat, bag and umbrella its own dedicated hook. Available from 2 to 12 hooks, with or without a 9cm shelf above, in oak, pine and painted finishes. Ships fully assembled with fixings included. Install hooks at 140–150cm from the floor for adults, or 120cm if children will use them too.

Coat Hooks

For smaller spaces or where flexible placement matters. Individual coat hooks can be positioned exactly where needed — spread across a wall, above a bench or behind a door. Space hooks 15–25cm apart to prevent coats overlapping. Available in solid timber-backed styles and brass finish for traditional interiors.

Wooden Shoe Benches

A practical place to sit while putting shoes on and a tidy spot for everyday footwear underneath. Our solid wood shoe benches store up to 10 pairs of shoes and suit hallways, porches and utility rooms. Available in rustic pine and painted finishes.

Monks Benches

The all-in-one hallway solution. A monks bench combines a solid wood bench seat, a storage compartment underneath and coat hooks above — everything in one piece. Popular in family homes where shoes, coats and bags end up in the same spot. Available in standard and tall sizes, in multiple Farrow and Ball painted finishes.

Console Tables

A surface for keys, post, lamps and decorative pieces in hallways wide enough to accommodate one. Our solid oak and pine console tables are available in narrow profiles for smaller hallways. Pair with a wall-mounted coat rack above for a complete entrance setup.

How to Plan Your Hallway Storage

Start with the wall — a coat rack or hooks take no floor space and work in any hallway regardless of size. Add a shoe bench if the hallway is wide enough to sit in (allow a minimum 90cm passable width after the bench). Add a console table if you need a dedicated surface for keys and post. A monks bench covers all three needs in one piece for busy family homes.
