More about our Farmhouse Dining Tables

Choosing a farmhouse dining table

A farmhouse dining table is defined by solid wood, a substantial top and honest, sturdy legs. It is the table a family gathers round for years, so it is built to be lived on rather than looked at. Every table here is made to order in our Halifax workshop, so you choose the size, the wood, the finish and the leg style.

Oak or pine

Oak is the denser, harder wearing choice, with a finer grain that suits daily family use and heavier tops on longer tables. Pine is lighter and warmer with more visible knots, and leans into a relaxed country look. Both are solid timber throughout and made to the same sizes.

With or without a bench

Most of our farmhouse tables come as a set with one or two matching benches, which tuck neatly under the table to save space. Benches seat more people in less room than chairs, and you can always add chairs at one end. Prefer chairs throughout? Order the table on its own.

Sizing to your room

As a rough guide, allow around 60cm of table edge per person, and leave at least 90cm to 100cm from the table to the wall so chairs pull out and people pass behind. Because every table is cut to order, we can match the exact length and width your room needs.

Made in Yorkshire

Each table is handmade to order in small runs, finished by hand, and sent out on a tracked service, carefully packaged. Bespoke sizes are welcome, just send your measurements.

All our timber is FSC certified and responsibly sourced!

Frequently asked questions

What is a farmhouse dining table?
A farmhouse dining table is a solid wood table with a chunky top and sturdy wooden legs, made for family meals. Ours are handmade to order in solid oak and pine, cut to your size, with A frame, X frame, pedestal or painted leg options.
Are your farmhouse dining tables solid wood?
Yes. Every table is solid oak or pine all the way through, so it can be sanded back and refinished over the years rather than replaced. Each one keeps its own grain, knots and natural character.
Should I choose oak or pine?
Oak is denser, with a finer grain and a harder wearing top, well suited to daily family use. Pine is lighter, warmer and more knotty, and suits a relaxed country look. Both are made to the same sizes.
Can I get a matching bench?
Yes. Most of our farmhouse tables come as a set with one or two matching benches, or you can order the table on its own. Benches tuck under the table to save space when not in use.
Can you make a bespoke size?
Yes. Every table is made to order, so we cut it to the length and width that fit your room. Send us your measurements and we will build to suit.
How long does it take, and is delivery free?
Tables are handmade to order, so please allow the lead time shown on each product. Delivery is free within mainland UK, on a tracked service and carefully packaged.
