This handcrafted wooden coat rack with shelf is made from solid oak in our Yorkshire workshop, a customer favourite with thousands sold across the UK. Each rack is handmade to order from sustainably sourced wood, giving you a piece that’s practical, durable, and full of character. Keep your hallway neat and welcoming while adding a touch of rustic charm.

The solid oak rail is fitted with cast iron style coat hooks — perfect for coats, hats, scarves, bags, and umbrellas. Above, the shelf adds useful extra space, whether that’s for family photos, a plant, or somewhere to drop your keys.

DELIVERY & RETURNS

Each item is handmade to order in our Yorkshire workshop and produced in small production runs.

The dispatch timeframe shown above reflects the current production schedule for this item. Orders are scheduled into weekly production, then carefully finished, packed, and dispatched.

While we always aim to meet the stated lead times, during busy periods dispatch may occasionally take a little longer.

Once dispatched, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking details so you can follow your delivery.

All items are sent using a tracked courier service and carefully packaged to arrive safely.

WOOD MATERIAL

Each coat rack is handcrafted from solid oak, a durable hardwood that will stand the test of daily use. All of our timber comes from FSC-certified forests, meaning it’s sustainably sourced and traceable from forest to workshop.

SPECIFICATION

Sizes:Height 15cm; Depth 9cm; Width varies by size — from 39cm (2 hooks) up to 150cm (12 hooks).

Finishes:Available in Heritage Oak or Walnut.

Weight Capacity:Each hook holds up to 2.5kg — suitable for coats, bags, scarves, towels, and more.

Assembly:Item arrives fully assembled. Two end hooks are supplied separately and simply screw on once the rack is fixed to the wall.

GOOD TO KNOW

Our furniture is made from solid wood, so you may notice natural variations such as knots, grain patterns, or small colour changes. These are not defects — they’re part of what makes each piece unique.
Timber will mature over time, with colour settling as it ages naturally.
As every rack is handmade to order, dimensions may vary slightly by a few millimetres.
Fixings are supplied for fitting, but we always recommend checking your wall type and using appropriate fixings where needed.
Each piece is finished by hand in our Yorkshire workshop and carefully packaged to arrive safely.

INSTALLATION

Each rack is supplied ready to fit. Two hooks are left off so you can fix the rail securely to the wall first. Once it’s in place, simply screw the end hooks on over the fixing points.

How long will my order take

Most items are handmade and made to order. The current lead time is shown on the product page. You will also receive progress updates during production and dispatch.

What happens if there is a problem during delivery

If you experience an issue in transit, contact the customer service team and they will help you resolve it.

How do returns work

To start a return, email customer service with your order number and reason. Items must be securely packaged in the original packaging. Return shipping costs are usually paid by the customer, while defective or damaged returns are covered by Off the Grain. Refunds are processed after inspection.

Do you offer click and collect

Yes. Click and collect is available from the workshop and is free. Collection options vary by item size.

Can I get advice on finishes or matching items

Yes. Product and finish guidance is available. If you are unsure about finishes or matching pieces, contact the team and they will advise.

We place huge importance on sustainability and consistently look for ways to improve.

Wood is a wonderful, natural material, beautiful to look and great to work with. Here at Off the Grain, we use a wide range of timber to make our furniture. All this timber is responsibly sourced & FSC certified. That means that every piece of wood at Off the Grain is sourced from sustainably managed forests in areas where four trees are planted for everyone used.

We also make sure that all of the Timber supply chain that we work with are licensed and operating legally, so that we are all upholding the very high standards that we pride ourselves on here at Off The Grain.
