Measuring your Radiator Cover

There are three main measurements that you will need in order to select the correct size for your radiator cover, they are width, height and depth.  If applicable, you will need to measure your skirting board and thermostat, if that is needed we cover this further down the page. In order to create the perfect radiator cover, you will need to follow the below steps carefully and accurately.

The illustration in the carousel of images above shows the three minimum sizes you need to form your radiator cover.

Step One – Tight Measurements (Radiator Size):

Width - the width measurement of your radiator from the outer edge of the valve on the left to the outer edge on the right side.

Height - the height from the floor to the top of the radiator

Depth – Wall to face of the radiator

Step Two – Design Measurements (Radiator Cover Size):

In order to allow adequate airflow and ventilation for your radiator, you will need to apply the following method to the measurements you have taken above.

Width  – Off the Grain advise adding a minimum of 10cm to your tight width

Height – Off the Grain advise adding 5cm to your tight height.

Depth – Off the Grain advise adding 6cm to your tight depth.

Example:

Tight Measurement:

Tight Width: 100cm = 110cm Design Measurement

Tight Height: 110cm = 115cm Design Measurement

Tight Depth: 20cm = 26cm Design Measurement

Measuring Tips:

When taking the measurements, it’s a good idea to slightly measure over, rather than being totally accurate.

Measuring for your skirting board:

All our radiator covers come with a square cut (as seen above). The skirting board cut out is required if you have a skirting board on the wall or even a floor bead etc or your radiator cover will not seat back to the wall correctly, if you do have a laminate floor bead or any other obstruction please leave a message with your order with size and description or email a picture over and we will cut this out for you.

Please note: Most walls and floors are never straight, true or level. If you wish to profile cut yourself on site this will be more accurate.
